about

I made these recordings in my shed at home in Preston in Melbourne Australia with a sansamp paradriver, acoustic guitar + ukulele, sm57, 2017 apple mac, a Focusrite "elcheapo" interface, reaper and some free plug ins/ samples. In the spirit of COVID19 vibes I thought f*ck it!!! ... may-as-well embarrass myself on the internet seeing as there's nothing else much to do with life ... Perhaps these songs also remind you of the impending apocalypse due to all the fuzzy tones or maybe you are one of those introverted peeps whom actually secretly thrives during lockdowns and you will simply enjoy my attempt to create something intimate and slightly fragile. I feel in these chaotic times one needs to embrace the inevitability of a distorted warble, poor signal, crackle pop and broken wiring. I hope these songs/things make you feel slightly better and give you some small light when all things seem to have gone dark.
I love you very much even if you don't really know me very well.
Thanks xoxox <3 !!!

An Ode to an Onion is about a sad little shallot that I found dead in the back of my fridge when I was moving back home from overseas. I felt for him in the fact that he did not manage to fulfil his life's purpose and ended up shrivelled and mouldy instead of in pasta or maybe even in a soup. I wrote this little song to commemorate his memory and celebrate his pointless and meaningless existence.

My Sister Lives in Korea Now is a song I wrote when my younger sister left on a train to go to a far away country. I was also living far from home at the time. It made me happy but also sad. The lyrics where also inspired/ influenced by a cool band in Melbourne called The Little Stevies. I wrote it a few years ago when I was just starting up my songwriting and adapted some of their lyrics/ verses as an experimental writing exercise. If you would like to see/here the original song I based mine off, you can check it out via this link; thelittlestevies.bandcamp.com/track/sister

Frances Gumm and the Mome Raths Melbourne, Australia

I make things in my shed. I like lofi art and DIY creative expression. My muse is windows 98, Free Paint and 90's retro bikes that I find on the side of the road... also my cat who has a blocked tear duct and sometimes struggles but i still love her. I do social work as a day job and this is a release from that and also reading too much dark philosophy. ... more
